How It Works
The Styx is a multi-step survival game themed around crossing the underworld's river:
- Start: You begin at the shore with your stake
- Navigate: Each row has a certain number of "safe" lanes and one "death" lane
- Survive: If you pick a safe lane, you advance and your multiplier increases
- Cash Out: At any point after step 1, you can cash out your current winnings
- Die: If you pick the death lane, you lose your stake

The river narrows in the middle and widens again:

Multiplier Formula
The multiplier at each step is calculated as:
rawMultiplier = product of (width / (width - 1)) for completed rows
effectiveMultiplier = rawMultiplier × (1 - 0.02) // 2% house edge
Example Game
Bet: 100 tokens
Row 1: 7 lanes, you pick lane 3 → SAFE! (1.14x = 114 tokens)
Row 2: 6 lanes, you pick lane 5 → SAFE! (1.37x = 137 tokens)
Row 3: 5 lanes, you pick lane 2 → SAFE! (1.72x = 172 tokens)
Row 4: 4 lanes, you pick lane 1 → DEATH! ☠️ Lost 100 tokens
OR if you cashed out at Row 3:
Cash out at 1.72x → Win 172 tokens (+72 profit)
Strategy Tips
Risk vs Reward

Key Tips
- The middle is deadliest: Rows 4-6 have the narrowest paths (3-4 lanes)
- First few rows are safest: Use them to build momentum
- Know when to cash out: A bird in hand is worth two in the bush
- Don't chase losses: Each game is independent
Cherry-Pick Protection
Like Blackjack, you can only have one active Styx game at a time. This prevents:
- Starting multiple games and only playing favorable ones
- Abandoning bad games without consequence
If you have an in-progress game:
- The game will be shown when you try to start a new one
- Use
/styxforfeitto forfeit and start fresh
Game Timeout
Games automatically forfeit after 10 minutes of inactivity.
